Belgium Day One

Whats up ya'll?
We had another quick sail--actually we got just of the coast of England and litterally dropped anchor in a "parking lot" for a while to save fuel.  Basically, we could have made it to Belguim in about half an hour but we had to sit and wait because we needed to have a "sailing day" for classes.  We had planned a class day anyway but instead of sailing really, really slow we just parked for twelve hours or so which was actually kind of funny.  Anyway, the first day in Belgium Danielle and I explored Antwerp a little.  We are docked in the old town and have a perfect view of a gorgeous cathedral that is right up the street from our ship.  We walked around for a long time and got waffles for breakfast--yummy!  After making our way to the famous "DO, RE, MI" flash mob train station we discovered that tickets to Paris were more expensive than we thought and the machine decided to hate me and rejected my card which made us a little bit crabby.  Therefore we went to the Leonidas chocolate shop and headed back to the ship to curl up in our sweatpants with chocolate and a good book to make our day a little better because chocolate fixes everything :)
Later that night Amy got back from her field lab to NATO and the EU and we headed back to the train station to catch our train to Brussels.  The only minor issue with that was our connecting train wasn't until 0730 the next morning, so we spent the night in the station.  It honestly would not have been so bad except for the fact that it was a bit chilly and then there was "Poker Face."  There was a little speaker/platform in the middle of the station playing the song "Poker Face" by Lady GaGa to help promote her new perfume or something like that.  Now, I like a little Lady GaGa but this speaker thing played "Poker Face" on a never-ending loop that we were forced to listen to for NINE HOURS STRAIGHT!!!  If I ever hear that song again I may not be able to refrain from hitting something--it was that bad!
Aside from that though we were fine.  We did not get much sleep but we met a girl from Germany named Sophie and taught her how to play MASH which was really funny and she loved playing. Once the cafe opened up in the morning we went to get breakfast and then walked around the station looking for Sarah.  ***Sarah was on a field lab and had spent the night with some friends at a hostel in Brussles, we were supposed to have gotten a direct train to Paris and met her there but we got stuck in Brussels so we were trying to find her so that we could all get on the same train and make things easier but we had no idea where she was or when she was coming***  Thankfully as we were sitting and eating breakfast I spotted Sarah's backpack out of the corner of my eye and yelled, "Sarah!"  We all ran over and essentially tackled her because we were so happy we had found her.  She hugged us all, looking confused, and then said, "What are you guys doing here?  Aren't you in the wrong country?"  (remember we were supposed to meet her in Paris).  Only on SAS can you find the person you are looking for at a train station in the wrong country lol.
So after we found her we all got on our train to Paris and you'll hear about that in the next post :)
