South Africa Part....ummm....the next one :)

The fifth and last day we were in Cape Town I had signed up to go to an elementary school and I was super excited about finally getting to see a school because I miss teaching-even though I get to work with some of the kids on the ship.  Sadly, there was only one other student who showed up to come, then one of the mom’s and her two daughters Rachel and Riley.  The five of us were driven over in a small van to the school.  They asked us to not write anything about them that would go on the internet as they have had some issues before with stories spreading about then that they did not approve of so I will not say much.  If you would like more information then please let me know and I can e-mail you.  I also have some pictures that I can show you when I get home :)

The school was great, we got to meet some really awesome kids and they were very excited that we had come to visit them and were there to play with them.  They loved getting their pictures taken and everywhere we went they kept posing and saying, “us, us, take this one!”  It was really cute and we had a blast.

After that………….FLASH MOB CAPETOWN!!!!!!!

One of the professors on the ship has organized numerous flash mobs one of which took place in Grand Central Station—so this was legit!  We have been practicing since before Ghana and have two more performances in South America.  We were all very excited as we met in front of the ship to practice one last time.  Then we all hopped on the bus and headed for the area in front of the mall, we wanted a good sized audience.  We had just started our performance when the music cut off and our communications director told us to leave.  Apparently we got in trouble with security because we didn’t have a permit to perform there---even though we had just asked them not ten minutes ago if it was ok for us to do our school project there—oh well.  So we wandered around to see if there was any areas where we could perform but in the end we just bought a permit and went back to the mall area to perform (about an hour and a half later).  The performance went well—the directors were all really happy with it and it was a blast!!  They got lots of film and at the end we are going to put together a video of all of our performances and make a mash-up video :)

That’s all for South Africa!

Love and miss you all
